The first Annual General Meeting of the Global Peace Alliance, Surrey Society was held at the PARKRIDGE GARDENS Clubhouse in Surrey, BC, on Saturday, February 21, 2015.
RESOLUTION #1: “The Global Peace Alliance strongly opposes the passing of Bills C51 and C639 which threaten to take away the Rights of people involved in civil disobedience or group opposition by simply branding them as “terrorists”. Such a Bill in our view goes against citizens civil rights and has no place in Canada during times of peace.” – Proposed by Niovi Patsicakis and seconded by Felix Kongyuy
RESOLUTION #2: “The Global Peace Alliance, Surrey Society (GPA) believes that Canada, a co-founder of the Global Alliance for the Ministries and Departments for Peace, should establish a Department of Peace with no further delay. In this regard, the GPA strongly supports the peace Bill C-373 the first reading of which has been already passed in the House of Commons on November 30, 2011.” – Proposed by Satwik Shetty and seconded by Patrick O’Connor
