At the heart of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the aim to end poverty and leave no one behind. At our own UBC, since 2009, research, learning and teaching, operations, and student engagement activities contribute to Canada’s commitment to achieve these goals. UBC stands out among the world’s top universities for their success in delivering on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2022, UBC ranked second in Canada overall and 13th globally out of more than 1,115 participating institutions from 94 countries, based on its contributions through research, outreach and stewardship. UBC has been hosting an annual SDG Week conference from last four years and this year they will collaborate with other Canadian universities and colleges and SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network) to host a national SDG Week Canada event. All Canadian post-secondary institutions are welcome to participate to host SDG events on their campuses during the week of March 6-10th, 2023.
